DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;Come and join us for a three day Southern California STEM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Mathematics) Service-Learning Institute on January 25-27\, 2011. Through the lens of energy\, water and technology\, California Academics Content Standards in Science and Mathematics will be re-enforced\, demonstrating a direct collaboration with\; elements of a high quality STEM\, Service-Learning project\, recruitment and retention of the underrepresented youth\, project management\, building and sustaining school/community partnerships\, evaluation and assessment. Topics in energy\, water\, gender equity\, green careers\, conservation and alternative energy sources will be introduced through interactive tours and hands-on activities that can be converted into STEM Service-Learning projects. Teams consisting of two teachers from districts throughout Southern California will receive classroom support materials\, local follow-up training\, and updates. Substitute reimbursement from most regions in Southern California may be available.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
