Students must have the opportunity to learn what is required for high school graduation regardless of the size and setting of their high school experience, whether it is an opportunity class, a juvenile court school, a special education setting, or small rural school. The subject matter verification process in English-Language Arts is designed to support teachers in these settings to teach California Academic Content Standards with confidence and competence.

This professional development will teach skills and concepts through hands-on, group activities and much more. The objective is for each teacher to leave with the belief that they have been given content and pedagogy they can deliver to their students. This training will help students pass the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) and graduate from California high schools with the content knowledge and skills to compete in the global economy.
Attendance at all five sessions is required.
