During this four-day professional development series, TK and Kindergarten teachers will become familiar with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics. They will examine the differentiation between the developmental needs of TK and the more academic requirements of traditional Kindergarten. While working in collaborative groups, teachers will create units of study aligned to the CCSS that may be used for instruction this year.

The focus of this half-day workshop is to:
Familiarize educators with the vision and criteria for high performing middle grades schools as developed by the National Forum to accelerate Middle Grades Reform and demonstrated in more than 300 national Schools to Watch in 18 states; and
Gain a deeper understanding of the Schools to Watch program and how the Schools to Watch self-assessment tools can assist schools in creating an action plan for school improvement.

Our workshop leader, Mr. Jim Winn, is with the Riverside Sports Clinic. His presentation will cover important areas of sports injury concussions, with a focus on 1. What are the symptoms of a concussion? 2. What can happen if the student continues to play with a concussion, or returns to soon? 3. What should be done if the student has suffered a concussion?
