Southern California STEM Service-Learning Institute Jan 25, 2011 - Jan 27, 2011
Come and join us for a three day Southern California STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Service-Learning Institute on January 25-27, 2011. Through the lens of energy, water and technology, California Academics Content Standards in Science and Mathematics will be re-enforced, demonstrating a direct collaboration with; elements of a high quality STEM, Service-Learning project, recruitment and retention of the underrepresented youth, project management, building and sustaining school/community partnerships, evaluation and assessment. Topics in energy, water, gender equity, green careers, conservation and alternative energy sources will be introduced through interactive tours and hands-on activities that can be converted into STEM Service-Learning projects. Teams consisting of two teachers from districts throughout Southern California will receive classroom support materials, local follow-up training, and updates. Substitute reimbursement from most regions in Southern California may be available.
