Students must have the opportunity to learn what is required for high school graduation regardless of the size and setting of their high school experience, whether it is an opportunity class, a juvenile court school, a special education setting or small rural school. The subject matter verification process in mathematics is designed to support teachers in these settings to teach California Academic Content Standards with confidence and competence.
Level II will focus on the conceptual themes in Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry and Probability & Statistics. This professional development will teach skills and concepts through hands-on, group activities and directed instruction. the objective is for the teacher to leave with the belief that they have been given content and pedagogy that could be delivered to their students. This will help students pass the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) and graduate from California high schools with the content knowledge and skills to compete in the global economy.
