San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools will be closed.

The presentation will be focused on helping attendees understand the complex growth and development of the young child’s brain and how its development intersects with the quality of caregiving, which impacts attachment status. Participants in this workshop will learn about early childhood brain development including an overview of the brain growth process, a brief introduction into brain anatomy and what brain development tells us about a child’s functioning at different developmental stages. Attendants will also learn how a child’s early relationships with caregivers mold and shape the brain development process and the long term implications for the child’s behavior. Workshop participants will be introduced to Attachment theory, understand why it is important, and be able to define what a secure vs. insecure attachment status can do to a young child and their brain.

Dr. Thomas and his assistant superintendents will provide a brief update on key issues within the organization.  In addition, an update will be provided on each of the eight strategic initiatives. 

Managers and confidential employees will have an opportunity to interact with staff from other divisions to brainstorm ideas that will assist us in becoming an organic organization.

Staff who are unable to attend are required to notify his/her immediate supervisor and assistant superintendent.

The San Bernardino County network of district EL Directors and Coordinators provides a forum to discuss and disseminate pertinent information, research, and best practices focused on EL achievement and support, and implication of the CCSS to existing EL programs.
